Dr. Kris Nystrom, an experienced English teacher and secondary literacy expert, serves as the Executive Director of Reading the World. This organization emerged from a comprehensive investigation into global literacy rates, revealing that children in Africa face some of the greatest barriers to education. Recognizing that African nations are abundant in culture, innovation, and human potential, Dr. Nystrom was inspired to take action.

As an advocate for antiracist and antibias pedagogy, he has dedicated his career to fostering equitable educational opportunities. Since its inception in April 2024, Reading the World has aimed to bridge the educational gap by empowering local communities. Under Dr. Nystrom’s leadership, the organization is committed to creating sustainable solutions that ensure access to literacy and learning for children in underserved regions.
